Question:
What would you like more and why?
Option 1: Torrents
Option 2: Direct Downloads
Option 3: Both
Discuss.
I think it really depends on the file size. I would love to download a 2 GB DVD on direct download, but it would take so long and there would probably be multiple retries because it might stop due to weird connection and have to start all over again. Gigantic files just are better done on torrent, even if it is slow. Smaller files like 30 MB files are really nice on direct download though.

i think ur right rust.orange
Yes short files are Good for Direct Downloads but Big files are better as Torrent!
direct downloads are okay but sometimes a pain because depending on your country there are reserved amount of people downloading at a time.....for example I only can succed in downloading from MU at 2:30 till 8 I think ....so its troublesome.... and also yousend it blocks or expires quickly... so instead of this too I prefer torrent... but.....
actually the best I find now its sendspace... for me it works fast and if i have to wait to download the file it tries 1,2 or 3 times and it works....
sorry if it sounds confusing.......=P

Sendpsace is pretty sweet, I have to admit. MU sort of really sucks because of the pop ads and everything. Yousendit is all right. It allows people to download multiple files at a time, as I recall.

http://leech.megaleecher.net/ Copy and paste the link in the textbox below and just do the regular procedures on MU.

;3 I like both options and I agree bigger files for torrents and smaller files for Direct D/ls. I use to not like torrents because I had dial up (might end up going back to that x_x), but now I really like it.. Especially if there's lots of seeders 8D
I'm agree with you, torrents for the big and DD for the short ones....but actually I think some of us are having troubles with Sendspace.....for some days it has been out for me.....I just can't download a damned thing from there....and the worst part of this is that people keep uploading in Sendspace.......so I don't know what's going on with Sendspace......
**Uploaders** please I beg you.....try to upload in other host site because I think some of us can't download in Sendspace and Megaupload :'(
I agree, i prefer downloading albums in direct download but DVDs and Discographies with Torrent :D

thanks for this page it seems interesting =).......
so you have a mu link and you put it there....then you submit it and they gave a link so you can download normaly?......
I tried and it tells me "error"
yeah, the big files for torrents is definitely it... there was some page some time a go that had whole dvds uploaded to their server, and it was like... impossible to get the stuff. there was a glay dvd a friend of mine wanted to have, but it just was impossible.
but I generally prefer torrents on the long run as well, because they don't expire... you can always ask if someone would re-seed, and when I look at the speeds I get from MU and sendspace... an average torrent, even with few seeders is much faster. today i dled a part of a movie from MU (dun ask me how they even GOT the 350 mb/part up there!) and it was like... 15 kb/s. that can easily be surpassed by a running torrent, and I'm still incredibly annoyed that that very special film is not up on any tracker... u.u
all in all I think that part took 5-6 hours to dl, and when I wanted to have the next part... it told my I was only allowed to start downloading again in 4 hours, because I had already downloaded so much.
so... I prefer torrents almost all the time, because there you have much less trouble... no ever-expiring files, no aborted downloads which have to be re-started from the beginning etc. etc.
direct downloading is nice for single mp3s, but everything above... it just got worse over the past year, a year ago you could still use ysi without registering there, and it gave you fast connections. now, ysi is members only, and I don't exactly trust them, their rules say "no copyrighted material" and I wouldn't risk them handing over my IP, MU is fucking slow, so is sendspace, not to tak of turboupload, which isn't just SLOW while uploading (nothing "turbo" about it) but also while downloading...
so, yeah. I <3 torrents. ever since I know how to use bittornade, and more so since my boyfriend did some port forwarding for me XD
Aza^^
I like Direct Download because its faster. Usually with torrents its a big seed problem.

good point
I like torrents much better , because if people would seed , it takes less effort and goes faster in some cases.
I also get annoyed when people upload songs seperately for a 10+ track album , and not zip them as one. So I kinda would like to see the torrents improved , pruned and updated.
Ahh. A little bit of a delayed response...
I like both Torrent and Direct Download. Big stuff = Torrents and Small stuff= Direct Download.
Personally I normally only upload small stuff so there is no point for me to use a Torrent, I feel. ((And for those that hate when people split files from albums, Ill be more considerate then I normally am and make sure I do both a full album download and individual song downloads, as well as trying to upload them to multipule upload sites)
As far as supporting uploads. I think that would be a great idea. I kinda grow tired of uploading to two or three different sites to accomadate as many people as possible. If that idea is possible, I think that would be just fantasitc. ((Is it possible? :D ))
direct downloads all the way. im torrent retarded, so i only do direct downloads. maybe one day i will be smart enough to appreciate torrents.
for my uni project i made a mp3 upload script so now to add it to the site
Could the torrents be named [release date][ripper/group][artist][title][bitrate]
I mean , some of the stuff I ignore becuse I have no idea what it is. Like , the newest one.
Is it "LUCY" the band , or a group that has a release called "LUCY"???
Alot of the stuff is a bit confunsingly named imo.
i like torrents because my connection isnt that good. im using wireless cable right now and my room is in an awkward spot for wireless. maybe the walls have some kind of metal in them or something.....
anyway, yeah. i like torrents.

folder torrents are far superior to zips. At least you can actually use the files as you seed :P.

When i said upload seperately I meant for direct downloads. Folder torrents are indeed best. I just hate it when people upload each individual song seperately to you send it , so you have to go to 12+ pages just to get the whole album. =x
Uhm, I only take direct downloads, because I'm not able to load torrents... you might also say I'm too stupid for this, but maybe one day =3
Anyways , back to the correct labeling of torrents. I mean really , what is the VOB.torrent?
I hardly ever , actually i havent used the tracker for awhile , because alot of it is poorly named , then it's poorly tagged , or not the right artist for some of the tracks.
I think the standards for torrents should be cracked down on , and penalties for leechers should be really high.

Just click on it and you see all files included. So no problem with that. (Although I must admit that at first sight the title is a bit meaningless. ;))
yeah , i can do that , but it's still un-organized. I shouldn't have to click it , it should be properly titled. =o
^ lol i was wondering the same thing >.< wtf?!?!?! is the VOB torrent...VOB's of what?
and yea when songs are uploaded seperatly in direct downloads it annoys me >.< my connection is kinda slow and since people usually use sendspace you can only download one thing at a time so it ends up taking me waaaayy to long to d/l an album.
I voted here along time ago but i voted for torrents, as long as there are seeders i think it's more efficient, at least for me.
I gave up on torrents here.
I like torrents a lot, as long as their seeded properly and labeled correctly. And for god's sake, don't upload a zip file as a torrent. That defeats the purpose.
I really like direct downloads. I think that's where the zipped folders should go. I don't do this, but for some people maybe you could upload 1 sample song, and then upload the zip file. Usually, I feel that a wiki link and a youtube link will suffice.
Each method has its positives and negatives. There's a time to use torrents, and then there's a time to use direct downloads.
^ very true and i like the idea of having a sample song or a youtube link or smth =] i think i will start doing that next time i upload smth.
I would love to go back to the good old time with a lot of torrents and no, or at least not many direct downloads!
Maybe it would be a first step to reduce the number of members at least a little bit...
