Are YOU fed up with VK...? Why?

Hay guys!  :D

Is it just me or does 95% of VK music nowadays suck really, really bad!?

[Beware of heavy ranting!]

First off I should mention that I kinda listened to japanese music for like 10 years or so... You know, the usual way it goes with... I always liked Anime n' stuff, so one day I somehow got this J-PoP songs (I think it was Ayumi Hamasaki) and I really liked it. I thought it was different than all the other music that I grew up with and in no time I had a little collection of japanese "mainstream music" like Do As Infinity, BoA, L'Arc and all that stuff...

When I also got into VK I loved it so much because the music was just so creative, catchy and loveable and at the same time heavy and brutal. I loved the mix between the extreme variations of musical styles without giving a shit of all these so called "genres" that everyone tries to sort bands in. Honestly, I didn't care too much about the outfits, the make-up and all that stuff. I just loved the music for what it was.

But nowadays I rarely listen to new stuff, because the releases tend to be more and more generic and monotone. No more catchy stuff, no virtuous guitar solos, THE VOCALS ARE A FUCKING DISGRACE!!! Even bands that I used to love seem to get bored to death with what they're doing. Just take "D". Remember their first album? Man, I loved the high falsetto voice stuff paired with Ruiza's ripping riffs n' solos and you could always catch me on my way to school, humming the melodies of the songs. And now? Look at "Birth" or "Snow White"... WHAT THE FUCK!?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?

You know, I'm a guitarist and pianist myself, so I have a slight idea how hard it is to write a good song, but that's no excuse for that shit! And what's up with Gazette, Alice Nine? What about Vidoll? OMFG I'm getting a stroke from listening to them! And oooooooh, my heart is bleeding... . . . D'espairsRay. Hizumi finally ended up singing some "Let's go have some Puri-Kura funny-happy-joy-joy time with my kawaii friends"-shit.
God I rather browse some streaming porn site and jerk off than wasting my time with that pile of vomit.

But that's just an example of how bad everything got.
And I'm just wondering what happened...? I know that the scene had pretty much blown up in like 2003-2005 when bands started to play in USA and Europe, so it's no surprise a lot of wankers try to jump the train and make some cash or whatever. Just look at the fucking jew Kisaki with his pathetic 10.000th version of some Phantasmagoria song. Fuck you!

I'm sorry if I bother too much, but it's late in the evening and just felt like rambling when I was browsing the downloads forum and saw all this freaking shit everywhere and it only made me sad to see that one of the last bastions of creative, non money based music now has fully died.

So what are your thoughts? Is VK fucked deep in the ass or do you still give it a chance?

V-Kei has been a dead genre since '99... maybe even earlier.

I've got your seniority too, I remember hearing the music and having that awesome "Tokyo Magic" feeling.

Now, I still get it but not like how it used to hit me.

However, I saw BLOOD's Final album, Final tour and it reminded me why I fell in love with V-Kei.

Go see a show if you can!

I'm not nit-pickping, just curious "Who's in the 1%?".

Bands formed some time in the last decade but have most of their activity in recent years that I can think of that are good enough for this list and not full of olde tyme VK guys:

SEX-virgin killer-
Jikuu Kaizoku Seven Seas
Gram∞Maria

There's probably 3 or 4 more out there, but I can't remember any others.

right, because "cult" vk bands Madeth gray'll and Syndrome were good back in the 90s  ::)

VK has always been shitty with the exception of the 1% of bands (there's more than the ones Username  listed, but still not more than 1%). What's even more annoying is the western fandom and it's weird ideas of what "VK" is. Ever wondered why 99% of VK fans are underaged fangirls who also read Yaoi, or faggots who are only into it for da boyz? then there's the 1% of normal people who like the actual music, and somehow manage to bear with the annoying fuck that is the VK fandom plus the amount of piles and piles of shit bands forming and disbanding everyday.

Oh yeah... I completely forgot about that part. But I was never a person who gave a shit about annoying fangirls n' all that. I mean yes, I felt very uncomfortable at concerts, because all of a sudden I was surrounded by little girls in weird colored stockings that seemed to have played with mom's make-up bag...

But it's not  a "western only" thing. I have seen many original japanese girls and while I couldn't understand much of what they were talking, I found them to be just as stupid, and in some way even more fanatic, as the western fangirls. I guess a lot of VK bands aim at psychological insecure girls in the middle of their "self finding"-process. They give them some kind of collective feeling of being "different" or unique.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way about the musical development.
It's just so fuckin' sad. At least they could have let VK die in honor and let the good times go for good. But NOOOO!!! There's more and more retarded jap boys picking up instruments to act like a fag in some cheaply made music video and hope to make something out of it.

Well, I guess I have to accept it. It's just gone the way everything goes...

KISAKI I'LL SHOVE A FUCKING BASEBALL BAT UP YOUR YELLOW ASS, TAKE PICTURES OF IT AND SEND THEM TO YOUR MOM!!!
[Sorry, but it feels so good.]  :P

I agree with you guys.  I got out of VK around four years ago when I couldn't take it anymore, and now a I'm trying to get back into it.  The only band I can actually stand is ダウト and sometimes SEX-ANDROID other than that it can all go die D<
Im in ur torrent board taking ur moosix

MY BABY DADDAY P-GWIDDLES

I completely agree Najito. Most [smart] people eventually move on past VK, though. The people that get stuck in the rotting quagmire that is the VK scene are misfortunate fellows who should be pitied rather than shittied.

Hm, come to think of it... you're right. The artists who could actually manage to surpass the VK phase have more or less made a carreer out of it. (Dir en grey, Luna Sea, X and so on...) But I'm kinda sorry for the other guys, no matter how shitty their music was, because I can imagine their life being pretty much fucked now...  ::)

Alright, excuse me while I listen to some Metallica and jerk off to bukkake porn... *lol*  ;)

Alice the Sister

I'm not fed up with VK. I'm fed up with fans who go out of their way to make the shitty bands popular.

Sometimes I wonder about what really causes the fall of a lot of VK bands.  I definitely think it is the fans.  When I was younger I did watch anime occasionally, but it never ruled my life.  I got into the Japanese rock scene through my uncle (oddly enough),  and never really touched the jpop.  I admit to running to my friends, waving a CD around every now and then and making them listen to a new artist I found and was extremely impressed with, but really, who hasn't?  But then...you get the fans who know of the band from an anime or because they came across their CD in Hot Topic (we all know the ones), and eventually THEY become the "fan base."  Artists see this new group of fans and (in my opinion, of course) do their best to keep them happy by changing their music and appearance to gain the approval of the new fans.  It is kind of sad, though...bands changing themselves to fit a group of fans that will up and leave as soon as a new band becomes popular.

There are some bands that are really good and (no offense, anime fans) just don't deserve to be subjected to that kind of fan base.  As fans of their music and not just their look, most of us will still love and support our favorite bands no matter what they do, because we can say "they weren't always like that", right?  RIP Dir en grey...we will get you back one day.
Everyone, please continue uploading and seeding! Hopefully the forum can become lively again~!
